Using AI topic suggestions to never run out of ideas

Stuck on what to write next? Mixo has three different ways to suggest topics — each suited to a slightly different moment. Here’s how to use each one.

Where suggestions come from

Mixo generates suggestions based on:

Your business type
Your service area (if Mixo knows it)
Your site content
Your existing article titles (so you don’t get duplicates)

The result is ideas meant to feel relevant to your specific business — not generic “plumbing tips for everyone”-style content. The more specific your site description and section topic are, the more personalised your suggestions will feel.

1. The empty-state suggestion card

This is the first thing you’ll see when your section has no articles yet. The listing page shows a suggestion card with a ready-made article idea.

It’s not just a title — it comes with pre-written talking points (specific angles the article could take) that pre-fill the Notes field in the generator when you click through.

How to use it:

Click “Generate this article” to jump straight to the generator with the topic and notes already filled in. Review and tweak if you like, or just hit Generate.
Click “Suggest something else” for a fresh idea if the first one isn’t right.

This is the most considered of the three suggestion methods — the talking points give you a head start on briefing the AI well. Best when you’re brand new to a section and want a strong starting point.

2. The ”✦ Suggest an article topic” button (inside the generator)

Appears above the Topic field on the new article form. Click it for an instant suggestion. Click again for another.

Suggestions are cached locally so they appear instantly — no loading spinner. Behind the scenes, Mixo fetches a batch of ideas and serves them one at a time.
No repeats in a session. Each click gives a different idea than the previous ones. The generator tracks both the title and the angle, so you don’t get five subtly different versions of the same idea.

How to use it:

You have a vague idea of what you want to write about, but want the AI to help sharpen it into a specific, usable title.
You want quick variations on a theme — keep clicking until something resonates.

You can always edit the suggested topic before generating — it’s just a starting point.

3. Demand-backed suggestions in the bulk generator

When you open the bulk generator, you’ll see a list of topic suggestions above the theme entry field. Some include a search-volume estimate (e.g. “1.2K/mo”) with a green trending arrow on the top two highest-demand topics.

These estimates show you which topics people in your area or industry are actually searching for. They’re an estimate, not a guarantee — use them as a rough guide for prioritisation, not as a certainty.

How to use them:

Click any suggested row to use it as your bulk theme without typing anything.
Prioritise the green-trending rows when you’re trying to maximise the chance of getting found in search.
Treat them as a starting point — once you have 5 generated titles, you can edit each one independently before generating the articles.

When suggestions feel off or generic

This usually means the AI doesn’t have enough information about your business to personalise well. Things that help:

Update your section topic (in Settings) to be more specific. “Plumbing services” → “Emergency plumbing and drain repairs for homeowners in south London”.
Make sure your site description includes your service area and specialisms — this feeds into all AI suggestions.

After updating either of these, suggestions will improve for all future sessions.

How fresh are the suggestions?

The suggestion cache refreshes automatically every 7 days. You can also trigger fresh ideas at any time by:

Clicking “Suggest something else” repeatedly on the empty-state card
Clicking the Suggest button multiple times in the generator

When to use which method

Suggestions are a starting point, not a prescription

If you get a suggestion and want to tweak the angle, the location, or the framing — do it. Type over the pre-filled topic. The AI will follow your lead. The suggestion is just there to break the blank-page problem; the final direction is yours.
